Porcupine Quills in a dogs face..OW! OW OW!!!

I thought I would share a couple of interesting pictures that my sister Darlyn sent me about a dog who had a wee...ummmmm spat shall we say with a porcupine. The odd thing is that the vet ended taking out more than 1300 quills from the face, neck and body of this dog.
I understand that this dog is a pitbull and was jousting with the prickly critter in the back yard of their Southern California home.
Now....question...for ya....if a pitbull does not stop at 1347 quills in his face and eyes....what WILL stop it?!?!???
Nice puppy....NICE.....puppy.............!
The dog did have to be sedated and have the quills removed of course and if this ever happens to your dog I advise trying to remove the quills as fast as you can with a pair of pliers as close to the skin as possible as the quills are barbed and if left alone the dog will only push the quills into the skin in an attempt to scratch them away....which then could fester and become infected.
Of course, help from a vet is always warranted if there are more than a couple of quills to remove.............like bruiser in the pics on the right.
..did I mention "OW?"

The best customers buy the best toys!!!

One of the best things about having a pet boutique here on Granville Island is the most wonderful people who shop here!
Not a day goes by where I don't meet someone who is interesting and has a cool pet that they are happy to tell about or show me pictures...I LOVE that!
I especially love when they send me pics of the cats or dogs with an item from my store......like Rico's owner who bought him one of our Tuff toys.
As a dog handler and retailer I REALLY try to give people the "skinny" on what is a good toy and what are simply just fun stuff.
Here in my shop where I only have a limited number of square feet I can only offer stuff that sells really well and is tried and true...stuff that is either requested or a constant inventory that I KNOW will move.
Keeping in that thought I got in a wonderful line of REALLY tuff toys that have many layers of material that is TOUGH and sewn together really well.
Now........nothing is indestructable...I tell people that all the time as a good salesman but these toys are great and Rico seems to LOVE his so kudos to Nik and her dog Rico! Thanks for the pic...you rock!!
